Optimistic Club of Budanilkantha hosts Drug Abuse Awareness, Health check up & Relief distribution

Budanilakantha, January 10, 2025 – The Optimistic Club of Budanilakantha organized a special program at Brainland Academy Hall, focusing on youth motivation, health awareness, and social responsibility. The event, supported by the Junior Optimistic Clubs of Brainland Academy, Peak Point School, and Brainland Academy, Nilopul, saw active participation from students and junior club members.

Key Highlights of the Program

Radha Anupriya (Bohara), Zone 3 representative of the Optimistic Club, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of proper eating and sitting habits. She also shed light on the roles and objectives of the Optimistic and Junior Optimistic Clubs in fostering a proactive and responsible society.

Binay Shrestha, President of the Optimistic Club of Budanilakantha and Principal of Peak Point Academy, highlighted the value of such programs in motivating children and encouraging them to take on social responsibilities.

Prashant Dahal, Secretary of the Optimistic Club of Budanilakantha and Vice Principal of Brainland Academy, provided insights into the upcoming International Convention of the Junior Optimistic Club.

Saroj Ojha, Secretary of the Optimistic Club of Dairy Entrepreneurs, was also present as a guest of honor.

Health Awareness Session

Health professional Parisiddhi Khanal conducted an informative session on drug addiction, termed "The Hidden Epidemic." Her presentation covered critical topics, including:

  • The existence of 235 rehabilitation centers in Nepal.
  • The dangers of drug addiction across all demographics.
  • The importance of recovery, rehabilitation, and a drug-free life.
  • Legal and social consequences of drug abuse.
  • Preventative measures and the significance of saying no to drugs.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment where students actively participated, and Khanal addressed their queries.

Humanitarian Initiative

In a parallel effort, the Optimistic Club of Budanilakantha, alongside the Junior Optimistic Clubs of Brainland Academy and Peak Point School, distributed food items to 61 senior citizens at Rima Sewa Samaj, an old-age home located in Hepali Height, Budanilakantha. The food items, including rice, milk, millet, peas, beans, and biscuits, LPG Gas cylinders were handed over to the organization’s founder in the presence of senior citizens under its care.

Health Check-Up Camp

As part of the initiative, the clubs also organized a health check-up camp for the senior citizens at Rima Sewa Samaj. The medical team conducted tests for blood sugar levels and blood pressure, contributing to the well-being of the residents.

The event successfully combined health awareness, youth motivation, and community service, demonstrating the positive impact of collaborative efforts by the Optimistic Clubs in fostering a healthier and more compassionate society.
